Job Summary:
BDO Johannesburg has a vacancy for an Audit Valuations Manager to operate within National External Assurance .
Objectives (Phase 1)
•Performing work of Reporting Accounting Specialist for listed companies on, inter alia, Reports of Historical Financial Information, Pro forma effects and Forecasts in respect of circulars to be issued
•Supporting audit teams in reviewing areas of significant estimates and judgements. At the initial stage, the focus will be primarily on IAS 36 reviews (impairment testing of goodwill, intangible assets and other assets) and IAS 40/IFRS 13 reviews (property and related assets carried at fair value).
Phase 2:
• To incorporate reviewing of other areas of significant estimates and judgements, which could include IFRS 2 reviews (share based payments), IFRS 3 reviews (purchase price allocations), IAS 41 reviews (agriculture) and IFRS 9 reviews (ECL’s).
Requirements:
•Preference will be given to candidates with at least two years post qualifying experience
•CA (SA) within the “Large 6” environment, who has been exposed to listed companies and impairment models under IAS 36.
Competencies:
This is a new division within National External Assurance. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with the director to get this new division operational. Core competencies will therefore be as follows:
•Good written communication skills
•Be able to take initiative and have an analytical and technical mind
•Be able to interact with senior staff in the firm (technical, CF, IT, Quality and audit director and managers)
•Have a good understanding and practical experience of application of valuation methodologies
•Deadline focused, with proven track record
