Many universities and Colleges in South Africa are currently accepting registrations of both new and old students for 2024 academic year. Therefore, we advise students who applied for 2024 admission to check their application status to know their eligibility for registration.
Only a few South African universities, if any, do not support online registration. Many colleges allow students to register online, thus simplifying the process. Every student must prepare various supporting documents to be uploaded.
The registration process of universities in South Africa may vary with qualification. Students funded by NSFAS for instance may have to do additional clearance with the school. The process may be different for:
- NSFAS Funded Students
- Other Bursary funded students
- Self-funded students & students funded by Fundi

Universities in South Africa Registration Guidelines 2024
Let’s begin with the best university in Africa, the University of Cape Town sends the process and deadlines for your programme registration to your email address when you receive the offer of admission. Keep in mind that communication will always be sent to your official UCT student email account.
There is a penalty fee for late registration, so know your deadlines and be prepared. (see what it takes to be part of this university).
Next up is Stellenbosch University provisionally admitted applicants confirmed as finally admitted to Stellenbosch University will receive final admission notification and registration instructions Most students are able to register online and are encouraged to register via our online registration portal. Please see the list of applicable programmes HERE.
The University of Pretoria, located in the capital city, offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across seven faculties, including economics, humanities, and natural sciences. UP online registration will be available on the UP Student Portal from 3 January 2024. The Registration Call Centre will be available from 4 January 2024 to 16 February 2024 from 08:00 (click for more information).
Rhodes University, registration begins on 22 January 2024. Your initial fee and other requirements such as residence allocation and, where relevant, visa requirements are to be ready for administrative registration from the 22 January 2024 (click to view registration directions).
Last but not least, we have the University of the Witwatersrand students can register online from home using the Self-Service Portal and are encouraged to register off-campus (more information).
