Kindly note that the University of Cape Town does not accept late applications. Although the closing date was extended last year that may not be the case this year.

UCT Online Application Procedures 2025

Here are the things to consider before you apply.

• You will need an email address to complete the application.
• South African applicants will need an ID number.  Foreign applicants will need their passport number.
• Once you receive your student number from UCT, you will need to pay the application fee.
• Make sure your documents are scanned according to the directives.

UCT ONLINE APPLICATION 2025

The University of Cape Town, UCT requests that prospective students submit their application for 2025 admissions as soon as possible before the closing date. Applications open in April.

When submitting your portfolio, please ensure that you also submit your UCT general application form to the Admissions Office via the online application portal.

Students must have applied to central admissions at UCT before 31 July 2024.

UCT SEMESTER STUDY ABROAD (SSA) APPLICANTS

First semester: UCT applications open in the first week of August and close on 31 October of the preceding year.

Second semester: applications open in the second week of January and close on 30 April of the same year.

Submitting Results & Documents for UCT APPLICATION 2025

When it comes to submitting your documents, you will need to ensure that your Grade 11 and the latest Grade 12 results are submitted. Failure to do this may result in delays with your application process. All the documents you attach will need to be certified copies of the originals.

Admission Requirements

The minimum requirement for UCT admission to undergraduate diploma study is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 3 (Moderate Achievement, 40-49%) or better in 4 recognised NSC 20-credit subjects.

Financial Aid for University of Cape Town Application 2025

If your family’s income falls below a certain bracket, you could qualify. This will be a separate form and you’ll need your parent or guardian’s payslip ready for proof.

Current Year’s Activity

If you’re in Matric, the university requires your school marks and school activity details. If you took a gap year they’ll need travelling or working details.

UCT APPLICATION NECESSARY DOCUMENTS 2025

Applications for coursework degrees (including LLM/ MPhil with coursework & dissertation) open on 1 April and close on 30 September of that year.

Below are the supporting documents to supply for the University of Cape town APPLICATION 2025.

1. Certified copies of full academic transcripts, including a grading legend from your institution explaining the local marking system
2. Full CV
3. 500 word motivation for proposed study
4. Names and contact details of two referees (at least one of which is academic)
5. Proof of English proficiency (if necessary)

Make Sure all Details are Correct

Fill in your application form slowly and double-check your details before submitting online. If you fill out a hardcopy, use a pencil before filling it out with a blue or black pen.

Signing the Declaration

Read through the form and make sure your details are all true and correct. You AND your parent/ guardian need to sign it.

UCT 2025 Acceptance

You will be sent a formal email or letter to inform you of your acceptance. Remember to continue working hard and pay the minimum initial payment by the due date.

Please Note*: For most institutions, you will have to write an NBT test, which will test your academic readiness. Make sure you check up with the institution you’re applying to whether or not you’ll need an NBT result for your application. Your NBT results are valid for 3 years (how cool?) and you only need to write the test once if you’re applying to more than one institution.
