The Senior IT Manager role is responsible for the management and monitoring of IT activities and
processes with an objective to deliver on approved IT Strategies and plans as well as continuously
improve service delivery and stability within the organisations Technology stack.
This includes Planning, Implementing, maintaining and supporting key functional areas within the area of
responsibility. (Infrastructure, Operations & Telecommunications)
The role is additionally responsible for documenting, standardising and improving the IT Infrastructure
Architecture through the development of strategies, policies and standards aligned to industry and
security compliance frameworks.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPAS)/ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. STRATEGIC INITIATIVES;
Engages in IT Strategy
.In liaison with the IT Executive, Play the lead role in developing and implementing the 1 – 3 Year
IT Infrastructure and Operations Strategy.
. Drive the Adoption of ITIL processes within the IT Team
. Propose and implements strategic initiatives in an effort to improve business operations,
efficiency and profitability.
2. OPERATIONAL:
Improve Existing Operations:
. Develop and maintain an accurate asset register for all IT Assets including Licencing.
. Develop and Implement IT Infrastructure and Operational standards through engagement with
relevant specialist to develop server, storage, network and Security standards and ensure
compliance.
. Develop and Implement a Server, Storage and Network monitoring strategy, which provides
proactive monitoring and alerting for all systems.
. Monitor and report on progress against operational plan and make adjustment where required.
.Ensure relevant support and delivery by the IT team in accordance with business requirements
and agreed SLA’s.
.Be accountable for the quality of Service and performance; ensuring future
demand from growth and projects is understood and factored into capacity plans
for all associated resources (People / Technology)
. Contribute to organisational effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering and ensuring the
effective implementation of information technology solutions.
. Monitor, control and support service delivery; ensuring systems, methodologies and
procedures are in place and followed
Vendor Management:
. Develop a Matrix of all Vendors, Services, Costs and contractual obligations with the inclusion of
a criticality matrix
. Develop, Agree and report on Vendor SLA’s
. Direct, coordinate and monitor the activities of various vendors responsible for delivering against
support activities, projects and preventative maintenance plans.
. Hold regular vendor service review sessions and provide monthly feedback to the IT Executive
. Ensure Vendor costs are managed and reported on Monthly with a long-term view of budgeting
and cost saving initiatives.
Process, Sustainability, Governance & Risk Management
. Development of Standard Operating Procedures
. Ensure Development and Compliance to Bayport IT DR & Backup Policy
. Ensure Patch Management activities are carried out on a monthly schedule
. Ensure compliance to agree IT Security policies (Logical Access, Active Directory, Exchange,
Windows, and Anti-virus etc.)
. Ensure compliance to (ITIL) Incident, Problem, Change & Asset management policies and
frameworks.
. Contribute to the IT Operational Risk register and development of Risk mitigation strategies.
Develops and oversees an effective communications strategy and plan
. Stakeholder communications and relationship management.
. Facilitates and attends planning and engagement sessions with relevant stakeholders. (Meetings,
brainstorms, discussions, status meetings, etc.)
. Prioritises key deliverables and projects, and ensures optimum delivery of projects and
deliverables.
Takes ownership and accountability for projects, deliverables and activities and ensure delivery
according to set timelines, objectives and budgets.
. Manages both internal and external stakeholder communications within Bayport.
Financial:
. Development of a yearly IT Budget meeting both Capex and Opex needs of the department in
conjunction with IT Management.
Manages the IT Infrastructure and Operations budget with monthly spend and forecast reporting
. Ensures spend efficiency by ensuring maximum value realisation
. Continually assesses and evaluates expenses to keep costs in line with budgets and forecasts
Ensures accurate reporting
. Provides a full review Monthly of the last Month in terms of the following:
a. Incident Management Reports showing SLA compliance per Criticality, Service and
Technician
b. System Uptime reports showing a rolling 6 Month availability report including remedial
activities.
c. Vendor Management Reports including Service Review outcomes and actions
d. Projects, initiatives and Activities
e. Risk Management Dashboard and Compliance state
f. Quarterly team KPI and PDP reports
3. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:
Manages and develops the team:
. Oversees the department and provides necessary technical support to all direct reports.
Ensures adequate morale and motivation to achieve set objectives.
. Implement and manage workforce planning, recruitment, learning and development, performance
management, reward and recognition and employee relations to ensure an optimal working
environment
. Introduces key performance management indicators for all direct reports in line with the Bayport
Strategic initiatives.
. Informally and formally evaluates all direct reports.
. Prepares and conducts periodic formal performance evaluations of these staff in line with the
Human Resources Management Policies and Procedures.
. Regularly reviews, monitors and ensures that there is an adequate number of staff at all times to
fulfil the strategic objectives.
. Identifies internal and external training opportunities and matches them with the training needs
identified.
. Mentors and directs direct reports.
. Executes all tasks and projects with initiative, drive, passion and objectivity.
. Plan, manage and monitor processes to ensure customer service excellence

Requirements:
EDUCATION:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
IT Diploma NQF5
MCSE 2012 or Newer
DESIRED/ PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
B-Degree in IT or Commerce
CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING COURSES:
ITIL V3
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
At least Five years’ experience in a IT Management Role
Industry Legislative compliance and knowledge
Experience within a fast paced and dynamic environment
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Experience
At least 3 years managing IT Infrastructure services
INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE:
Financial industry preferred
Exposure to IT Strategic Planning and Implementation
Directing and implementing IT Initiatives around Operations improvement and Customer engagement
Sourcing and managing suppliers
DESIRED/ PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
At least 5 years in a IT Management role
5 Years in a technical or specialist role
