BDO in South Africa has a vacancy for an Audit Chief Operating Officer(COO) for its Audit service line. The audit COO will oversee the Audit service line’s ongoing operations and procedures. The audit COO will be the Audit Heads’ second-in-command and responsible for the efficiency of business.

Job Summary:
The COO is a key member of the Audit Senior management team reporting to the National Head of Audit. The COO has to maintain control of diverse business operations. The goal of the COO position is to secure the functionality of Audit to drive extensive and sustainable growth. Reporting to the National Head of Audit, the incumbent willer alia be required to:
Key responsibilities and competencies:
•Strategy and Sustainability – Understanding key objectives for Audit service Line and BDO SA, design and implement Audit strategies, plans and procedures.
Development of strategic plans for operational activity. Oversee the rollout of operational plans.
•Leadership and Succession – Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth, establish Audit policies that promote company culture and vision.
Lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication.
•Marketing and Business Development – Oversee daily operations of the company and the work of Partners (Portfolios, work in progress, billings etc.) and be responsible for promoting BDO and its brand.
•Financial Performance Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting financial data and metrics.
•Risk Management – Identify and implement controls to mitigate Risk. Ensure that Business Continuity are in place and tested on an ongoing basis.
•Quality Control – Establishing and maintaining quality standards for audit services as well as determining the operational training needs of the various levels of Partners, Directors and staff in the audit service line.
•Human Resources – In consultation with the National Head of Audit and People and Culture, implementing effective succession planning, people management, development, recruitment, and retention strategies for the division. Ensuring the promotion of employment equity and transformation in line with the strategic objectives of the Audit service line and BDO SA.
•Information Technology – Identifying critical system problems and concerns that may hamper the delivery of quality services to audit engagements. Liaising with IT and Head of Audit Technology to resolve the issues.
•Administration – Attending monthly management meetings and report back on activities and developments in the Service line. Ensure smooth operations for the audit business unit.
•Project Management – Ensure new/improved processes are implemented in the various business units and embedded in day to day operations.
•Key Stakeholder Engagement -Working closely with the heads of Audit, translating a brief into an audit plan and drive the successful delivery of the campaign from start to finish.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience:
•Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) will be an advantage.
•Minimum 5 – 10 years of practical experience with Audit Operations and delivery experience.
•Commercial experience in running a business/business unit will be an advantage.
•Working enterprise architecture experience focusing on business transformations.
•Experience in managing end-to-end audit projects.
•A seasoned thought leader who demonstrates leadership in related digital audit forums, and industry networks.
•A meaningful contributor to research and trends that affect the audit space, and how this impacts on quality.
