IEB Matric Exam Remarks 2023 – How to request

IEB Matric Remarks 2023 are for registered exam candidates who believe they have the wrong IEB result. The reason Independent Examinations Board (IEB) allows candidates to request for remarking is to address any potential errors or oversights that may have occurred during the initial marking of the papers.

Currently, candidates who sat for May/June examinations can now apply for their papers to be remarked or rechecked following the release of the rewrite results on 29 June 2023.

The May/June examinations lasted from 1 March and to 15 March 2023.

How To Request A Re-mark

The first step in requesting a remark is to gather the information on the process, it comes along with your results.

Candidates can then apply online (if required and necessary) directly to the IEB via their website as the school cannot apply on their behalf. All applications for this must be submitted to the IEB by the due date which will be released with the results.

On submission, your examination papers are reviewed and assigned to experienced examiners for re-marking.

Note: IEB Matric Remarks and rechecks both have fees attached to it. While rechecking costs R420 for 1 or more papers, the cost for remarking is R830.

However, IEB remarking applications for May exams only close on 7 July. Results of the remarking process is expected to be released on Thursday, 27 July 2023.
