Following the Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga announcement, Matric Pass Rates by Province 2023 have been published.
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has achieved a matric pass rate of 82.9%. This is an increase of 2.8 percentage points from the 80.1% achieved by the class of 2022.
The minister revealed that the class of 2023 achieved x Bachelor passes, x Diploma passes and x higher certificate passes.

- Western Cape: 81.5%
- Gauteng: 85.4%
- Limpopo:79.5%
- Eastern Cape: 81.4%
- Kwazulu-Natal:86.4%
- North West: 81.6%
- Northern Cape:75.84%
- Mpumalanga:77.0%
- Free State: 89.0%
The Class of 2023 can collect their statement of results from their exam centres and schools where they wrote on 19 January 2024.
