The PhD Scholarship Programme In Portugal is currently looking to fund undergraduates looking for scholarships.
Bursary Details:
The Portuguese National Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) is offering a scholarship for PhD graduates. This scholarship will be awarded in collaboration with the Atlantic International Research Centre (AIR Centre).
Through this scholarship programme, ten PhD grants will be offered to candidates studying in the following fields:
- Earth and ocean observation
- Climate science
- Climate change
- Ocean health
- Marine pollution and data science in Portugal.
Closing date: 22 August 2021.
Candidate Requirements:
- Be a national citizens or citizens from other member-states of the European Union or a third-party states citizens or a stateless individuals or a citizens holding a political refugee status;
- Have a master’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, Informatics Engineering, Informatics, Computer Science or closely related areas as considered by the Scientific Committee.;
- Not to have benefited from a PhD or a PhD in industry studentship directly funded by FCT, regardless of its duration; and
- Meet the requirements to enrol for PhD related studies and wishes to carry out research towards PhD.

How to Apply:
Applications, and all the supporting documents must be submitted online using the FCT application form available at https://www.aircentre.org/Scholarship/. Please check programme’s website for PhD application deadlines here.
You need to include the following documents with your application:
- Certified copy of your Identification Document (ID card, passport)
- Recognition of the foreign academic degrees and the conversion of the respective final grade to the Portuguese grading scale, if applicable;
- An updated version of your Curriculum Vitae (CV) and saved as PDF;
- Motivation letter;
- FCT Form filled in and signed (available for download here, guidelines in English here.);
- A detailed description of the research work plan, when applicable;
- Supervisor(s) Commitment Letter and CV (stating that (s)he accepts to supervise you, in case you are awarded with the Grant);
- Supporting letter (in case you plan to develop part of your work in collaboration with additional institutions, please provide a letter describing the collaborative work;
- Certified copy of academic degree certificate;
- Two (2) different recommendation letters, signed by the respective issuer; these letters should include the academic and/or professional context relationship of the candidate with its referee and should also specify that are related with this call.
