Job Summary:
Strategic Alignment:
•Ensure the development of the overall Accidents and Incidents Investigations Operations strategy
•Manage and ensure the development and implementation of an annual plan that will effectively meet both the short and long-goals and strategy requirements of the division
People Management:
•Manage and ensure the implementation of Accident and Incident Investigations development interventions aimed at institutionalizing a high-performance culture and establishing a
cohesive and positive working environment to improve staff morale and increase productivity.
•Oversee the mentoring and coaching of staff on an ongoing basis as required to ensure effective and efficient Aviation Safety Operations.
•Ensure that the Division is fully resourced and developed to ensure that efficiency of investigations.
People Management:
•Manage and ensure the implementation of Accident and Incident Investigations development interventions aimed at institutionalizing a high-performance culture and establishing a

Manage Budget:
•Develop and manage the budget for Accident Investigation Division and ensure that adequate funding is available for the planned operations of AIID. Monitor and manage operational
and capital expenditure of AIID.
•Ensure compliance to the PFMA and other appropriate legislation, policies & procedures.
Review of Legislation and Drafting Rules,Regulations and Policies:
•Lead and manage regulatory reviews and submissions in terms of Accident and Incident Investigations development
•Review of AIID Manual of Procedures in line with ICAO Annex 13 requirements. Draft regulations to comply with Annex 13 requirements. Make submissions to ICAO Accident Panel for
considerations of new standards and recommendations for Annex 13.
•Proactively research, develop and establish the specified standards to be applied in Accident and Incident Investigations
Accident Investigations Operations:
•Ensure that aircraft accidents and incidents are investigated without delay to preserve evidence and expediting the completion of the aircraft investigation.
•Provide guidance and leadership to the aircraft accident investigation team and Review aircraft accident investigations progress monthly
•Review accident investigation Interim statements and ensure that sound and comprehensive interim statements aircraft accident investigation reports are issued and published
timeously in line with ICAO requirements

•Facilitation and co-ordination in terms of cooperation with other bodies (local or international) on accident and serious incident investigations.
•Develop and maintain policies and procedures for aircraft accident investigations

Requirements:
NQF level 7 qualification in Aviation Accident and Incident Investigation or Mechanical or Aeronautical engineering or Pilot Licence or relevant Equivalent qualification.
Ideal qualification : Relevant Post Graduate Qualification.
10 Years Senior Management or equivalent Experience
10 Years Accident Investigation or relevant experience
