Job Summary:
The Community Engagement Officer is responsible for managing the recruitment and retention strategy for all site trials that include meeting sponsor set targets, stakeholder engagement and the promotion of trials in the community.
Technical Work Responsibilities:
Apply knowledge and understanding of the disease under study
Favourable Stakeholder engagement
Community engagement and education
Coordination and participation in recruitment and retention activities
Facilitate and participate in community engagement activities
Manage outreach staff
Data capturing, reporting and record keeping
Communication with sponsor representatives and senior site management
Requirements:
Education:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities , Health Sciences or equivalent
Minimum of a Grade 12 for an incumbent without a degree ; must have CLO experience in clinical trials
A GCP Certificate
Experience:
At least 3 years’ experience in Community Education and Engagement work; advantageous : experience in a clinical trial or health care environment
Up to 2 years’ experience in a related Management position
At least 5 years’ experience in Community Education and Engagement and in a related Management position, for an incumbent without a degree
Advantageous:
Experience in utilising Recruitment and Retention strategies
Requirements:
SA Citizen or valid work permit to work in South Africa
Basic computer skills
Driver’s license
Professional Drivers Permit (optional)
Willing to work overtime
