Who qualifies for NSFAS funding? Scholarship Programme 2021
The Who qualifies for NSFAS funding? are currently looking to fund undergraduates looking for scholarships.
NSFAS offers funding to students who cannot afford to pay their fees. What many students misunderstand is that your marks are not a qualification for a NSFAS bursary. Your marks are important for you to earn entrance into an institution but to be selected for funding, the qualifications relate to your SASSA status or to your household income.
NSFAS funds 42% of the university population, and 70% of TVET college students. NSFAS does not fund private institutions.
Here are the requirements for NSAFS funding:
- You are a South African citizen
- Financial constraints which don’t allow you to fund your own studies such as:
- Having a combined household income that’s under R350 000 per year
- You have a disability and your combines annual household income is less than R600 000
- You are a SASSA grant recipient
- You are applying to get a formal qualification from a public university or TVET College
- You passed grade 9 to 12 (for those applying for TVET funding)
- You passed grade 12 (for those applying for University funding)
It is important to remember that without registration to a university or TVET college, qualifying for NSFAS funding means nothing.
